Here are some trendy cafes with a hip New York loft-inspired décor and even some quirky ones to liven up your weekend “food trip”.

Lepaq Lepaq When you picture Nasi Lemak, you don’t really think of it being served in the form of cake! That is the whimsicality of Lepaq Lepaq and what separates it from regular cafes. “Rain” that is made out of cotton-candy drips into your drink and a brunch version of Peking Duck will have you wanting more. If you are ravenous, they also have one of KL’s most substantial big breakfasts around. Located in a curious two-storey space, this captivating café is nestled facing a forested view of Bukit Ceylon. Lepaq Lepaq is an expansive café with exposed brick walls, concrete grey wall finish and it’s surrounded by gigantic windows lined with black frames. Fishee Coffee If friendly vibes are what you are in search for, Fishee Coffee has a cheerfully vibrant setting that’s a great option for customers seeking to kick back and relax. Fishee’s food and beverages exhibit a young-at-heart exuberance which includes savoury snacks with chunky wholemeal toasts crowned with chicken ham, cream cheese and top with a fried egg. One of their most well-known dishes would be the Fishee Ball, which is a fresh cheesecake covered with Belgian dark chocolate on an Oreo base, it’s not only exquisite but very scrumptious! Fluffed Café and Dessert Bar Fluffed brings customers on an exploration of crowd-pleasing desserts, from signature strawberry ‘cloudcake’ to crisp waffles with imaginary monikers like Pooh Bear’s Favourite, The Monkey King and even Jack & The Beanstalk. The café offers food fare that includes ice cream with flavours like macadamia crumble, lavender blueberry and hokey pokey honeycomb. One of our personal favourites is the Pooh Bear’s Favourite because there is nothing more satisfying that tucking into a plate of crisp, warm waffle topped with handcrafted Hokey Pokey ice cream, crushed honeycomb and almond praline, salted caramel and fresh fruit after a meal. Wild Sheep Chase A couple who share a love for cafes and café hopping opened their own shop, and imaginatively named it Wild Sheep Chase. Fans of the novelist Haruki Murakami may recognise the name as the title of one of his books. What the café is known for would be their signature soufflé made with kampung eggs and vanilla (from the real pods, not essence) and served with orange-infused syrup and home-made grapefruit sorbet. Wild Sheep Chase’s made-to-order desserts include a molten lava cake and fluffy waffles served with osmanthus-maple syrup and cream whipped with freshly-ground Earl Grey tea leaves. Bean Brothers The Korean-operated coffee bar is located on a secluded street in Sunway Damansara and scores noteworthy points for its prominent industrial look, with a cavernous two-level warehouse space filled with intricately photogenic corners that will soon become a social media staple. Coffee is taken seriously with beans roasted in Bean Brothers’ home nation, plus house blends have official names like Black Suit and Velvet White, and Ethiopian, Guatemalan and Brazillian beans are brewed to partner the café’s own-baked cakes and cookies.
