Call to MACC branches to establish integrity consultative council

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has called on all state branches to emulate the Terengganu Government's setting up of the state integrity consultative council (MPINT) as fundamental to
become a corruption-free nation.
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism) Datuk Zakaria Jaffar said he believed the establishment of such council would reinforce efforts to promote a culture of integrity as a whole.
"Last week, (the Terengganu Government) established the MPINT, becoming the only state to do so.
"I hope the step will become a role model for other states and I hope that all programmes and systems under MPINT are well conducted," he said in a statement here on Saturday.
He said efforts to build a nation that embraced integrity should be carried out by all parties, including the public.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman in a joint statement said the efforts were aimed at creating a transparent civil service free of corruption.
He said the MPINT would give a detailed description of actions that could be associated with corruption.
"The effort will also involve collaboration with the MACC, proving the state government's commitment to give quality service to the people," he added.
MPINT comprises 16 government agencies, religious institutions and youth associations.
Ahmad Razif said the MPINT launch was timely and inline with the New Terengganu Transformation principle introduced last year.
The MPINT will advise the state government in the implementation of integrity with focus on public and private sectors, among others.
