Cancer stricken pupil wishes to meet PM, Tun Mahathir

A student of Siamese-origin who is stricken with brain cancer hopes to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong said Kongkiat Bun Song, 10, who had undergone two operations to remove growth in his brain believed meeting Najib and Tun Dr Mahathir would strengthen his resolve to fight the disease.
"After being detected with the disease, Kongkiat stopped schooling and underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment as well follow-up treatments at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre each day," he said in a statement here today.
He said Kongkiat wanted to be a doctor and wished to return to school in Subang Jaya soon.
Kongkiat is one of two children of Bun Song I Wan, 37, a lorry driver and his mother Channa Isin, 34, a housewife from Pendang, Kedah.
"He and his wife have been worried about the health of their son as they cannot afford the high treatment expenditure involved," Boon said.
