Capsized boat: Another victim reported safe
Another victim of the boat tragedy in Rajang River has reported himself at the Kapit police station on Friday, reducing the number of those still missing to three.
Belaga state legislative assemblyman, Liwan Lagang confirmed that the victim’s name was Simon Patrick.
“From the list of missing people, one has made a police report stating that he is alive, well and healthy. His name is Simon Patrick Jonathan ... and three more in the missing person list are Roslin Jati, Morris Ajar and Paulus,” said Liwan at a press conference.
With the recent development, he said the main focus now is to find the other three that are missing and salvaging the boat.
Meanwhile, Liwan also revealed that there was an increase in the number of passengers from 205 to 208 people.
He said three passengers have stepped forward to report themselves after finding out that their names were not in the list.
In another development, the effort to tow vessel had to be postponed to enable the security personnel to seek other alternatives.
The search and rescue mission will continue on Saturday.
