A house owners fears of having his house, located near a road bend, rammed into by speeding vehicles turned into a tragic reality.
The house owner, Mat Rasid Mat Shariff, 67, was killed when a speeding four-wheel drive vehicle (4WD) crashed into the house, located off Jalan Permatang Pasir here.
"This was the second time a car crashed into my uncle's house," Rosnah Din, 54, told Bernama when met at the Masjid Permatang Pasir cemetery, where Mat Rasid was buried, here Thursday.
Rosnah, who lived with Mat Rasid since she was two years-old after her father died, said her uncle was sleeping on a sofa on the ground floor living room when the 4WD vehicle crashed into the house at about 10.45pm, Wednesday.
The impact caused a brick wall to collapse and fell on him, she added.
"A cousin, Razak Ibrahim, 52, who lives next door to my uncle, rushed in to check on my uncle's condition, but found that my uncle, who was critically injured, no longer breathing," she said.
Rosnah, who now lives in Kulim, Kedah, hoped that the authorities would take necessary action against the driver.
Meanwhile, the victim's sister, Kamariah Mat Shariff, 68, said her brother, the 11th of 12 siblings, was a kind hearted man who was skilled at building houses.
"It was only yesterday that I saw him building a nephew's house," she added. -- Bernama
