Cara Delevingne Portraits Take Art To The Next Level
New portraits of supermodel Cara Delevingne by British artist Jonathan Yeoh have been revealed ahead of the largest retrospective of his work. Yeo said the model proved the “perfect subject and muse” for his exploration of the creation and manipulation of identity through the power of social media, and even illustrated a portrait of Delevingne pouting in the process of taking a selfie. The 23-year-old posed for Yeo six times over the last 15 months to assist with the 12 portraits, nine of which will be on display alongside noted works from the artist’s 25-year career at The Museum of National History at Frederisksborg Castle in Denmark.
Delevingne’s expressions range from inquisitive to otherworldly, and include an introspective shot which shows off her well-documented collection of tattoos. This has resulted in art pieces, painted with pastel-coloured oils that show the actress engaging with numerous styles of seeing, whether through a mobile device, mirror or even old-fashioned aviation goggles.
The self-taught artist is well-known for his portraits of cultural figures, which have previously included peace activist Malala Yousafzai, actors Nicole Kidman and Jude Law, politician Tony Blair and the Duke of Edinburgh.
