Cargo lorry driver, attendant killed in collision

The incident is believed to have occurred when the cargo lorry driven by Lee entered the opposite lane before colliding with the lorry transporting oil palm.
A cargo lorry driver and his attendant were killed when their lorry collided with a lorry which was transporting palm oil at Km11, Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman near Simunjan early today.
Sarawak Traffic Enforcement and Investigating Department deputy chief DSP Bingkok John said in the 11.15 am incident, the driver Lee Poh Ang, 27, died on the way to the hospital while his attendant Wong Soong Kui, 37, died at the scene.
"The driver of the second lorry, identified as Azni Ali,49, also sustained serious injuries and was sent to the Sri Aman Hospital for treatment.
"The incident is believed to have occurred when the cargo lorry driven by Lee entered the opposite lane before colliding with the lorry transporting oil palm, which was driven by Azni ," he said in a statement here today.
He said the cargo lorry was travelling from the Sri Aman-Kuching direction while the lorry transporting oil palm was heading towards Kuching-Sri Aman.
"Further investigation is being conducted and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
