A cargo worker at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport claimed trial in the Sessions Court, here, today to intentionally causing fear among the public through social media with a bomb scare.

Syafiq Abdul Rahim, 24, allegedly posted a statement through Facebook on the profile, Persatuan Kongsi Gelap Melayu (Malay Secret Society Association), that certain locations were going to be bombed.

He allegedly cited the locations as the liquor factory in Shah Alam, Pavilion shopping mall, Bukit Aman police headquarters, Batu Caves temple and the National Mosque.

Syafiq is accused of committing the offence at the Caltex Petrol Station in Jalan TK 4/5, Taman Kinrara, Bandar Kinrara, Subang Jaya, here, at 12.30pm on Aug 24.

The charge under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak set bail at RM2,000 in one surety, and fixed Oct 30 for re-mention of the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Azari Harun appeared for the prosecution while counsel Mohd Razlan Jalaludin represented Syafiq.
