Popular cartoonist Datul Lat, who was reportedly being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Pantai Hospital in Ipoh, Friday is reported to be in stable condition.
His brother, Mamat Khalid today said that he is well and has been advised by the doctors to rest at the hospital after a routine check-up yesterday.
"He is being warded at the ICU since there were no beds available at the normal wards. He was in high spirits and more talkative when I visited him yesterday," said Mamat, the famed director of comedies, Rock Ooo ... ! and Rock Bro!.
According to Mamat, when news broke about his brother being warded at the ICU, news about his brother's alleged weak condition started to spread.
"I was shocked when I learnt about it. I rushed from Tanjung Malim, Perak to Ipoh to visit him. Thank God, was well and more chatty than usual too," said Mamat, who is also a popular screenwriter of Enfiniti Productions' epic film, Puteri Gunung Ledang.
Lat, whose full name is Mohammad Nor Khalid, was admitted to Pantai Hospital in Ipoh after a routine checkup on Friday.
Today, Lat's daughter, Junaidah was reportedly quoted in news portal, Malaysiakini citing father's heart 'as weak'.
"Yes, his heart was weak but he is stable and is currently under the close supervision of the doctors," said Mamat.
The 65-year-old icon was hospitalised Friday after he had reportedly felt unwell on Thursday at his residence in Ipoh.
Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir uploaded an image of him visiting Lat on Friday on his Facebook page.
Lat has published countless cartoons over 40 years.
He is synonymous for his work on Kampung Boy, which has been translated into 12 languages, including Japanese, English, Arabic, Chinese, Tamil, German and Korean.
