Case of woman who ran amok in PM's office postponed again

The trial of Muhdalena Ahmad who allegedly ran amok with a man armed with a samurai sword in front of the Prime Minister's office last year has been postponed again to Aug 23. Sessions Court judge Mohamed Kamil Nizam set the new date after the defence lawyer M.Visvanathan submitted his client's medical leave certificate for another month as she had been diagnosed with depression. Visvanathan also told the court that his client was given a sick leave from July 26 to Aug 23 by psychiatrist Dr Umi Adzlin Silim of Putrajaya Hospital. On June 12, Visvanathan had also requested for the trial to be postponed for the same reason. Meanwhile, deputy public prosecutor Nadia Mohd Izhar told reporters that the prosecution had called eight witnesses so far and was planning to call another five or six soon after the trial was resumed. Muhdalena, 28, and Khalil Afendi Abd Hamid, 47,were alleged to have ran amok in front of the Prime Minister's office at around 2.30pm on July 9 last year. Khalil Afendi died at Putrajaya Hospital after succumbing to injuries. Muhdalena, 28, from Kota Damansara, is facing four charges under the Penal Code, the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 and the Restricted Area and Prohibited Places Act 1959.
