The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has identified the Philippine military commender who was arrested yesterday in Semporna as Datu Amir Baha Hushin Kiram.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said confirmed his identity to reporters during a press conference in Felda Sahabat.
“This was the man that we caught in the swamp area in Semporna with his wife yesterday,” he said.
Along with Datu and his wife, the police yesterday caught a Malaysian coordinator who has been arranging food, drinks, medication, transport and places to stay for the Sulu intruders.
The coordinator’s wife was also arrested.
Khalid said to date a total of 416 people have been caught under various Acts including 110 under The Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012.
Meanwhile, Khalid said voters in Lahad Datu can vote during the General Election as usual.
“There is no problem. If they are registered voters, the voting process will run as usual,” he said.
