Chanel Takes You To Dubai

The cruise collection is held annually in the month of May in different cities. It was simply appropriate that this year, Lagerfeld presents his collection in the most lavish place on the planet; Dubai. It’s rumoured that the showing costs the Maison an astounding $2.9 million with one thousand guests and three hundred medias all flown in from abroad who enjoyed a fashion show in the sunset followed by a cocktail party into the evening.

Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel came, saw and dominated Dubai's tasteful set as the Cruise Collection 2014/2015 was revealed at The Island in Dubai on 13 May 2014. And if you thought that King Karl would've left his signature jacket to beat the heat in the UAE, you thought wrong. Jacket confidently on, Lagerfeld delivered what he and Chanel are best known for, a fashion experience like no other, with copious amounts of tributes to Dubai along the way.

Guests were being ferried to the venue in dhows and celebrities from Dakota Fanning and Tilda Swinton to Freida Pinto and Vanessa Paradis were just chilling on the sand. Star-studded and luxurious, boasts Chanel in all its splendour.

As for the collection: Hair adorned with crescent moon-shaped accessories (and the interlinked Cs Chanel logo), models with glittery gold on the outer corner of their eyes showed off bright blues, sparkling greys, florals, pastels and pearls and variations on the well-known quilted jacket. There were also three-piece suits and trompe l'oeil trousers, wide-legged and skinny trousers, long and mini tunics, short dungarees, gathered blouses and boleros with three-quarter length sleeves. All in all, tres chic!
