Chapter on women, family development in BN manifesto

Barisan Nasional (BN) will include a special chapter, dedicated to women and family development, in the party's manifesto for the coming 13th General Election.

Wanita BN chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said, this was agreed upon by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who placed importance on women and family development in the country.

"We are happy, we asked this from Datuk Seri Najib and he agreed because women and family development was important to him and BN.

"Women not only make up half of the voters, but they are share partners of fathers in the development of the country," she told reporters after chairing a Wanita Umno exco meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.

Shahrizat, who is also Wanita Umno chief, was formerly women and family development minister.
