Cheat sheet for the unavoidable traffic congestion during the KL City Grand Prix
KL has always been the hub for traffic jams and with the planned road closures for the upcoming KL City Grand Prix it is bound to get worst. Rest assured the organisers, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and GT Global Race (M) Sdn Bhd, have done their utmost to minimise traffic congestion during the Grand Prix period but to help make it easier for all KL-ites to navigate through the city.
The inaugural KL City Grand Prix will begin from the front of Suria KLCC and will proceed around through Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Perak before heading back up Jalan P. Ramlee to the start finish line. The circuit measures a total of 3.2km and will proceed anti-clockwise around KL.
Here are a few must know facts of the KL City Grand Prix traffic management plan:
- Construction of the FIA approved circuit will take place between 10pm to 6am. Access to all properties surrounding the circuit during construction and disassembling will not be affected any more than the regular construction process in KL.
- The race will take place a total of three days, from 7th August (Friday) to 9th August (Sunday) 2015. The race will take place from 6am to 6pm on all three days.
- Certain sections of Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Perak will be closed from traffic during the race time. Refer to the graphics attached below.
- All public and non-race vehicles will be cleared from the track by 7.30am due to safety protocol.
- Race goers are encouraged to make use of the public transport system and dropping off at the KLCC and Dang Wangi station for the LRT system, Bukit Nanas and Raja Chulan for the Monorail system.
The organisers of the 2015 KL City Grand Prix thank everybody for their kind patience and extend their sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.
