Cheras, Putrajaya record unhealthy API reading as of 2pm

Two areas, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of 114 and 103 respectively as of 2pm today.

The Department of Environment (DOE) portal said 21 areas recorded moderate API including Banting (91), Batu Muda (Kuala Lumpur) (89), Port Klang (87), Petaling Jaya (86), SK Jalan Pegoh (Ipoh) (84) and Shah Alam (82).

The other areas were Seremban (78), Nilai (75), Kuala Selangor (71), Bakar Arang (Sungai Petani) (70), Seberang Jaya 2 (Perai) (69), Indera Mahkota (Kuantan) (68), Perai (64), Bukit Rambai (Melaka) (62), Universiti Sains Malaysia (Penang) (61) and Pasir Gudang (60).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.
