Child among five killed in tragic accident

Five people, including a one-year-old child were killed in a tragic accident which involved three cars and a motorcyle near Taman Zamrud, Pasir Gudang, on Sunday.

One year old Muhammad Danial Syafiq Aziz, S. Varathan, 35, S. Sivakumar, 40, Mohd Ismail Abd. Rahman, 46 and V. Sadhees, 23, died in the accident.

The parents of Danila, Aziz Yakub, 33 and Nurul Hafizah Mohamed, 30, suffered minor injuries.

During the 9pm incident, it was learnt that the motorcyclist attempted to overtake at a double line but failed before crashing onto a Perodua Kembara car traveling on the opposite direction.

The Perodua Kembara driven by Varathan lost control and hit a Perodua Viva that was driven by Aziz Yakub while another Perodua Viva driven by a 30-year-old crashed into Aziz Yakub's car.

The driver was however, not injured. Seri Alam police Supt Roslan Zainuddin said the bodies of the dead was later sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital.

He urged members of the public who witnessed the accident to contact the nearest police station.
