The children of the Malaysian couple detained in Sweden over allegedly beating their child for not praying may be handed over to a Malaysian-Muslim foster family soon.
The Swedish government's Social Welfare Deparment had said that it has identified two such families residing in Sweden, according to UMNO Youth Community Complaints Bureau chairman Sheikh Nafiq Alfirdaous.
"They will transfer the children within this week to one of the two families, pending the approval from the parents," Sheikh Nafiq told Astro AWANI magazine editor Zan Azlee here after attending a meeting with the board.
The children of the parents in question, Azizul Raheem Awalludin and Shalwati Nurshal, were taken into custody by the State after the couple was detained in Dec 18 last year.
The four children, aged 7, 11, 12, and 14, are now staying with a Swedish family.
