The police have arrested the 37-year-old wife and three other people to help in the investigation into the murder.
A Chinese national died early Tuesday during a fight with his wife, her relatives and a friend over custody of their daughter at their house in Setia Alam, police said.
Shah Alam Police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the 39-year-old man was injured in the eyes, chest and back of the head in the fight that took place at about 1am.
The police have arrested the 37-year-old wife and three other people to help in the investigation into the murder, he told Bernama.
Shafien said the man had come to the house at about midnight and had wanted to take their four-month-old daughter back with him to China but his wife refused to part with the child.
"A quarrel erupted, leading to a fight, and the man reportedly tried to slam the baby onto the floor," he said.
During the commotion, the wife's mother contacted her son (the wife's younger brother) and informed him of what was happening, he said.
"The 32-year-old brother came to the house with his 66-year-old father and a 40-year-old friend, and the men engaged in a fistfight. The Chinese national then fell and died on the spot," he said.
The body was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, he said.
