Following is the chronology of the Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder case :
On Oct 26, 2006: Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri from the Bukit Aman Special Action Unit was arrested in connection with Altantuya's disappearance.
On Nov 6, 2006 : Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar from the same unit was arrested.
On Nov 7, 2006: Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda was picked up by police to assist further investigations into the case.
On Nov 15, 2006: Azilah and Sirul were jointly charged at the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam with the murder of Altantuya. According to the charge, they were alleged to have killed her at a location between Lot 12843 and Lot 16735 in Mukim Bukit Raja, Selangor, between 10am on Oct 19 2006 and 1am the following day.
On Nov 16, 2006: Razak was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court for abetting with Azilah and Sirul in the murder. According to the charge, he was alleged to have committed the offence between 9.54am and 11.05am on Oct 18 at the 10th floor of Bangunan Getah Asli in Jalan Ampang.
On June 19, 2007 : The trial of Abdul Razak Baginda and the two policemen for the murder of Altantuya began.
On Oct 31, 2008 : The High Court acquitted Razak without ordering him to enter his defence after ruling that the prosecution had failed to established a prima facie case against him. On the same day, the High Court found that the prosecution had proved a prima facie case against Azilah and Sirul Azhar and ordered them to enter their defence on the charge.
On Nov 14, 2008 : Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah confirmed that the prosecution was not appealing against Abdul Razak's acquittal.
On Jan 15, 2009 : Azilah and Sirul Azhar begun to enter their defence. Azilah gave sworn statement from the witness dock.
On Feb 4, 2009 : Sirul Azhar gave his defence statement from the accused dock.
On April 9, 2009 : Azilah and Sirul Azhar were found guilty by the High Court and sentence to death.
On April 10, 2009 : Azilah filed his notice of appeal against his conviction and death sentence.
On April 13, 2009 : Sirul Azhar filed his notice of appeal against his conviction and death sentence.
On 24, June 2013 : The Court of Appeal heard the duo's appeal.
On Aug 23, 2013 : The Court of Appeal allowed the appeals brought by Azilah and Sirul Azhar and acquitted them on the charge. The prosecution filed its notice of appeal on the same day.
On June 23, 2014 : The Federal Court heard the prosecution's appeal. It heard the matter for three days.
On June 25, 2014 : The Federal Court five-member panel chaired by Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria reserved their decision in the prosecution's appeal.
