The ‘Cinderella’ trailer will blow you away!
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, also famously known in the Harry Potter movies as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (1993). So happens, he is also a very versatile filmmaker! The British chap has not only helmed and acted in films adapted from Shakespearean plays, he has also played a villain in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, voice acted and directed Thor. (Close your widely opened jaw) yes, that Marvel hammer-wielding superhero movie!
Branagh’s adaptability is displayed in his new directorial project, with Disney’s classic Cinderella starring Downton Abbey series regular Lily James as the token character and Cate Blanchett as her vicious and somewhat camp stepmother. There is no dark retelling of the classic fairy-tale but there is much magic and wonder as you would have wished for as a child. The trailer showed us how natural Lily James is at being a kind-hearted princess. While there will be no musical numbers in the film, Kenneth told E! Online that there will still be singing. "We hope to pay a little nod to the original in that way," he said.
Cinderella also stars Game of Thrones' Richard Madden as the charming prince, Helena Bonham Carter as the eccentric but lovable Fairy Godmother, Downton Abbey's Sophie McShera as Drisella and Holliday Grainger as Anastasia.
Cinderella follows the blockbuster success of Maleficent, the re-imagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale starring Angelina Jolie, and furthers Disney's foray into live-action terrain as a way of mining its vault (the category also includes Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland).
We can’t wait for this release! Also, the COSTUMES (drool).
Cinderella opens in Malaysian cinemas on 12 March 2015.
