CITF investigates claims of empty syringes at vaccination centres

In a statement today, CITF said investigations were being carried out with the cooperation of the authorities, including the police and the Armed Forces to ensure such incidents do not recur.

CITF stressed that vaccinators found guilty will be subject to stern action in accordance with the provisions of the law and their services terminated.

"According to established standard operating procedures (SOPs), each vaccinator has to show the syringe containing the vaccine to the vaccine recipient before the jab is given.

"Recipients are also advised to look at the syringe before and after the vaccination process to be convinced that the vaccine dosage and injection have been given as how it should be," the statement read.

According to the CITF, a case in Kedah was reported last Saturday (July 17) at a PPV drive-thru at the Sungai Petani Airport Camp reserved for Malaysian Armed Forces members and family members.

The vaccination process at the PPV was carried out by staff from the Armed Forces Hospital at the camp.

"The MAF has carried out an investigation into the incident and the individuals involved have been called to give an explanation. Disciplinary action has been taken against the worker," it said.

Besides this, two similar claims were also reported at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) PPV here last Saturday and the Bangi Avenue Convention Center (BACC) PPV in Selangor yesterday.

CITF said both cases are being investigated by the police.
