Citizens' Declaration a personal agenda, don't dupe the rakyat - Najib
Najib who is also the UMNO president said more than half of Sarawaks population did not support the declaration.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Citizens' Declaration on March 4 is nothing more than a personal agenda and stressed that it was not done with the interest of the people at heart.
Najib who is also the UMNO president said more than half of Sarawak’s population did not support the declaration.
“The declaration is not a citizens’ declaration. It is not done by the people. More than half of Sarawak did not agree with it,” he said at the launch of Malaysian National Digital Inclusion' program (MINDA) at the Kuching Waterfront, today.
“This is not citizens’ declaration because it not a people’s agenda but for personal agenda. So, don’t dupe the people,” he added.
Najib was commenting on the Citizens’ Declaration, signed by 58 former leaders, Opposition leaders, political activists and leaders of non-governmental organisations on March 4.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir were among those who signed the declaration.
The signing of the ‘Citizens’ Declaration’ was attended by over 58 leaders such as Tun Ling Liong Sik, Tan Sri Sanusi Junid, Tan Sri Aziz Yassin, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar, Datuk Husam Musa, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Datuk Mustafa Ali, Datuk Dr Khairuddin Al-Takiri, Datuk Kadir Jasin, Mohamad Sabu, Salahuddin Ayub and many others.
The declaration, containing four demands, calls for the resignation of Najib as Prime Minister.
