A team of Kuala Lumpur City Hall officers arrived for the second time at the 'Occupy UM8' site located at the front gate of University of Malaya (UM) on Friday.

Upon their arrival around 7pm, the enforcement officers who arrived in a van and a 4WD vehicle were seen awaiting for instructions from higher-ups before they acted.

A City Hall spokesman, Md Yazid Abu Zarin said they had ordered the students to bring down the banners around 'Occupy UM8' site.

"But for now, we are awaiting orders from the higher authorities," Md Yazid told Astro AWANI.

The incident took place after Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir and former education minister, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah visited the site around 6.30pm.

They arrived together after attending the forum "Human Rights Day: Freedom of Expression" organised by UM's Law Association held at the Tun Mohamad Sufian Auditorium at the university's Faculty of Law.

Marina and Saifuddin were panel for the forum, together with UM law lecturer Assoc. Prof Azmi Sharom.

DAP's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, who is political secretary to Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang, also arrived at the site around 3pm to lend her support to the students.
