MHD AMIN: City Hall have so far approved 25,000 affordable homes
Redeveloping old flats is one of the measures taken by Kuala Lumpur City Hall to provide 50,000 affordable homes in the city.
Its mayor, Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz said City Hall had so far approved about 25,000 affordable homes.
Work is in progress to achieve the target, he told Bernama in an interview recently.
Mhd Amin, who was appointed to the post effective last July 18, said his other objective was to strengthen City Hall and improve its delivery system by restructuring the organisation early this month.
"I will use my 37 years experience serving City Hall to provide the best for Kuala Lumpur with the cooperation of the city folks," he added.
To ensure best facilities and service for the city folks, Mhd Amin said he would also focus on maintenance of public facilities, like roads and street lamps.
As KL is a densely populated and developed city, he said City Hall is among local government authorities with the highest complaints.
He gave the assurance that efforts would be made to resolve all complaints forwarded by city folks.
He is also determined to make KL a cheerful city where various recreational and sports programmes and activities would be organised.
Mhd Amin said he would also focus on addressing issues on foreign citizens, imitation goods, vice and gambling in the city by working closely with the relevant agencies, like the police, Immigration Department and the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry.
He said the RM4 billion allocation set aside for the city's five-year development would be fully utilised to provide the best basic facilities for city folks towards making KL a world-class city.
He would also continue with existing programmes, like Car Free Morning, building of bicycle track, greening of KL and monitoring of slopes.
"We will also continue with efforts to address issues on illegal advertisements," he added.
