City Hall to reveal hazard map of risky landslide areas
Kuala Lumpur City Hall will be issuing a hazard map identifying highland areas in the Klang Valley which are risky as residential areas, in June.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib said City Hall has commissioned the Public Works Institute of Malaysia (Ikram) to carry out a study on the matter in January.
"We will conduct the study soon as a safety measure for occupied residences and those being built (in highland areas)," he told reporters near the landslide in Puncak Setiawangsa, here Sunday.
Earlier, he accompanied Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on a survey of the site where the landslide occured at 10pm last Friday.
Elaborating further, Ahmad Phesal said the disaster map could be a guide for housing developers and residents to take safety measures.
