The government will not compromise and will take firm action including sacking civil servants found leaking government secrets.
Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said civil servants were responsible for ensuring confidentiality to ensure national security and the well being of the people. "Efforts must be stepped up to ensure that government secrets are not leaked. Action will be taken in accordance with the general circular and the government security directive.
"Civil servants who leak government secrets may be sacked, depending on the secrets leaked," he told reporters after presenting prizes to the winners of the Ironman 70.3 winners, here on Sunday.
Ali said that he has yet to receive an official report on the alleged leakage of government document.
The international bureau chairman of the Malaysian International Institute of Islamic Cooperation (IKIAM) Fakhrul Azman Abu Bakar called for action to identify who leaked unverified document on the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on April 8.
The Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera (Zairil Khir Johari) and Bukit Mertajam (Steven Sim Chee Keong) questioned Muhyiddin's five-day visit to Dubai alleging the official duty was for only several hours while the remaining time was for playing golf.
