“Do good, and the good will come back to you,” they say.
And that is exactly what M. Paruvathy, 58 did when she found an unattended bag while carrying out her routine duties at Sunway Lagoon’s theme park.
Paruvathy has become an internet celebrity when the story of her honesty was shared on Facebook by Sunway Theme Parks Career & Community page, on Wednesday.
Paruvathy is a sweeper and cleaner at the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park and has been serving for more than 20 years.
According to the post, Paruvathy had returned an unattended bag which contained a bundle of money close to RM8,000 in Ringgit and Saudi Riyal. Besides money, there were also three passports which belong to a Saudi family.
A report by The Malay Mail said Paruvathy noticed it while going for lunch. She then picked it up and surrendered it to the ‘Lost And Found’ counter, without a second thought.
“Honesty breeds Excellence. This is an exemplary act of Integrity by our fellow theme park hero. Aunty Paruvathy saves the day!
“(Lost & Found: RM1,850.00 & Riyal - 7,244.00 & 3 passports),’’ wrote the management on Facebook.
They also snapped a picture of her along with the recovered items and posted it on their official Facebook page.
The post has then gone viral on social media, with more than 6,000 likes and over 4,000 shares.
Netizens are praising Paruvathy for her honesty and hope her act will inspire others to do the same.
Netizens are also calling on the management to reward her kind gesture.
“God bless her and family for being so honest. I hope Sunway Management do reward her. Please don't just reward her with a certificate only, but do look into her welfare as well. She can be a good role for others to follow her honesty,” said Steven Seow.
Netizen AienNul MarDhyiah said after serving for 25 years, Paruvathy should be rewarded to a higher position with a good increase in salary.
"Not many good-hearted n honest people around in today’s world," she wrote on Facebook.
