Barber shops are still not allowed to open under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob admitted that he had received requests from the associations and owners of barber shops for permission to operate.
“I know barber shops are most frequented before raya.
“However, the government has yet to discuss this.
"This is because barber shops are still on the list of those prohibited," he said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
He added that the associations and operators of barber shops who contacted him had expressed commitment to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP).
However, he said the government has yet to discuss such service sector as the Ministry of Health (MOH) has not given any advice.
"We have not discussed. If any and as advised by the MOH (Ministry of Health), we can discuss to give permission.
"So far, we have not received any advice from MOH on this matter," he said.
