CMCO: Open markets, morning markets, night markets, bazaria in the Federal Territory allowed to operate

Open markets, morning markets, night markets and bazaria in the Federal Territory are allowed to reopen starting June 15.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the permission was, however, subject to the standard operating procedure (SOP) after consultation with the Ministry of Health (MOH).

"The SOP includes the opening hours for morning markets and open markets between 6 am and 11 am; night markets (4 pm-10 pm) and bazaria (5 pm-11 pm).

"The social distance of booths is set at 1.5 to two meters and the location must be open and fenced to control one-way traffic," he said at a daily press conference here today.

Ismail Sabri added that these markets are only allowed to sell takeaway purchases.

In addition, the traders also need to wear personal protective clothing (PPE), gloves and face masks.

"This SOP can be used by local authorities (PBTs) for markets across Malaysia.

"Immediate closure will be conducted in case of failure to comply with the SOP. Traders and visitors are required to use the MySejahtera app," he said.
