KUDAT:A woman entrepreneur here has taken the initiative to help those facing difficulties in getting food supplies during the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) by introducing a project called “Rak Kongsi Rezeki”.
Through the initiative, food items such as flour, rice, sugar, cooking oil, eggs, biscuits and canned food are placed at 15 mosques and surau around the district for residents living nearby.
Norlizah Gurahman, 33, said the initiative is being carried out with the support and help of her three friends as well as volunteers.
“I started this initiative two days ago with the intention of helping to ease the burden of the people in the district. I have done something similar in last March, namely preparing food baskets and handing them out to the needy from house to house.
“This time around, we provide a shelf with an array of food items on it at mosques and surau in the district as the current situation does not allow us to distribute aid from door to door following the spike in COVID-19 cases,” she told Bernama.
Norlizah said she and her team would constantly monitor and stock up the items on the shelves to ensure residents especially the needy would get to enjoy the aid given.
She said the shelves provided can also be used by individuals or other parties to donate food supplies thus encouraging people to give alms and help the less fortunate in the district.
“If more people come forward and contribute, there will definitely be more people who can be helped to get through this challenging period,” she said.
The ‘Rak Kongsi Rezeki’ is available at Masjid Al Akmal Landung Ayang; Masjid An-Nur Kampung Ayer; Masjid Nurul Hikmah Kampung Gumpa; Masjid Nurhidayah Perpaduan Ria; Masjid Ar Riyasi Tanjong Kapor; Masjid Jamek Kampung Pengaraban; Masjid Asyakirin; and Masjid Ubudian Pekan Sikuati.
Other locations are Masjid Al-Ihsan PPR Taman Ehsan; Masjid Ar Rahman Kampung Muhibbah; Masjid Imam Hj Dusaan Kampung Korina Sikuati; Masjid Tun Mustapha Kampung Limau-Limauan; Masjid Al-Badar Kampung Parapat Laut; Surau Kampung Milau; and Surau Nur Budiman Kampung Pantai.
