CMCO in Selangor, KL and Putrajaya starting October 14

KUALA LUMPUR:The Government will implement the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor effective from 12.01 midnight, 14 October.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the CMCO will take effect until October 27.

According to him, the decision was taken after taking into account the views of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), as well as the increase in positive COVID-19 cases lately.

"After getting advice from the MOH and taking into account the increase and contagion cases that occur such as in Klang and Petaling and cases seen increasing in Gombak and other districts, we have decided to implement the CMCO," he said in a press conference on Monday.

With the implementation of CMCO, Ismail Sabri said the movement in and out/across the district is prohibited.

"However, for employees who need to cross the district, they need to show their work pass or letter of permission from their employer.

"Only two people from a house are allowed to go out to buy necessities," he added.

In addition, Ismail Sabri said all schools, institutions of higher learning, skills training institutes, kindergartens, tahfiz, public parks, mosques and houses of worship, recreation centres, as well as entertainment centres and nightclubs were to be closed.

The ban, he said, includes all sports, recreational, social and cultural activities, including weddings are not allowed.

"However, all economic activities in Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are still allowed to operate as usual.

"A further and more detailed list of SOPs will be announced by the National Security Council (MKN) in the near future," he added.
