Any activities to collect fund donations in the name of 'wakaf' (endowment) in the state should be done with the approval and consent from the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS).
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said it was in line with the Endowment (Negeri Sembilan) Enactment gazetted in 2005 with the aim to prevent such an activity from being manipulated.
"Endowment and any religious matters are under state Islamic religious council's rights and jurisdiction.
"Whoever wants to carry out endowment-related activity must get the approval and consent from the Islamic Religious Council," he told reporters after the launch of Al-Quran Endowment Campaign here yesterday.
Mohamad also said that the state government had already created an endowment data bank to ensure that all donations, including endowed properties, could be managed in a proper and systematic manner.
