Comedian Yahaya Sulong dies

Veteran actor and comedian Datuk Yahaya Sulong died of old age at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital here today.

He was 84.

National Association of Artistes (Seniman) president Rozaidi Jamil or Zed Zaidi, when contacted, said Yahaya passed away at 6.45 pm and his remains would be taken to Teluk Intan, Perak for burial.

Yahaya had acted in 24 films with his first film role in 'Abu Nawas'.

He was noted for his role in movies like 'Gila-Gila', 'Putus Sudah Kasih Sayang', 'Da Di Du', 'Toyol', 'Prebet Lapok', and 'Senario the Movie' in 1980s.

Yahaya also starred in television sitcoms like 'Hang Setia' along with R.Jaafar, Param and Hamid Gurkha, and 'Si Jantung Hati'.

Yahaya leaves behind his wife, Datin Alisah Ali and 11 children.
