TAPAH: The Parliament sitting scheduled for the end of this month should not be used to debate political matters or issues related to the country's leadership transition, said Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Ahmad Faizal, who is Tambun Member of Parliament, said elected representatives should instead make full use of the opportunity to discuss efforts to combat COVID-19 and revive the country's economy to ease the people's burden.
"So I hope politicians (MPs) will not give priority to political matters as the main agenda for the coming Parliament sitting is to discuss efforts to save the people," he said.
Ahmad Faizal, who is also Chenderiang state assemblyman, was speaking to reporters after inspecting an outreach vaccination programme at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Sungai Lah, near Chenderiang, here today.
The former Perak menteri besar said he believed all MPs from the government bloc would continue to give their strong support to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to help in efforts to battle the pandemic, which is still raging in the country.
The Prime Minister's Office had announced that a special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat will be held for five days from July 26 to 29 and Aug 2, while the Senate will reconvene for three days from Aug 3.
