The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) today signed the Anti-Corruption Pledge (IBR) to strengthen integrity and transparency of its staff at the ministry, department and agency levels.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, led the declaration of the pledge before signing it, witnessed by the director of the Community Education Division in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Datuk Abdul Samat Kasah.
Also present were the ministry's deputy secretary-general (policy) Datuk Mohid Mohamed, heads of department and agencies under the ministry.
"I hope KKMM staff will enhance their integrity and not be involved in corrupt practices when carrying out their duties. Everyone has a role to play in combating corruption," Sharifah Zarah she told reporters after the Hello KKMM Series 2 programme.
At the event, Sharifah Zarah also joined the MACC Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (Gerah) which is an effort to combat corruption at all levels and in all sectors.
She is the first ministry secretary-general to join Gerah which currently has a membership of more than 20,000 throughout the country.
Sharifah Zarah said Gerah is the latest initiative by MACC to encourage the public to work with it to combat corruption in the country.
"KKMM staff will be part of Gerah," she said, urging the staff to join the movement.
She also praised the MACC's efforts in using a casual and friendly approach to draw the public to join it in the fight against corruption.
"The MACC is now approaching the public through creative means such as films and poetry, to instill integrity in the fight against corruption and abuse of power," she said.
