Company director fined RM30,000 for illegally possessing iBoite-X media box

SHAH ALAM: A company director was fined RM30,000 after pleading guilty in the Shah Alam Sessions Court here today for six offences of possessing six units of iBoite-X media boxes that have illegal Astro broadcast applications.
The accused, Ng Lee Lee, 46, made the plea after the charge was read before Judge Muhamad Anas Mahadzir.
According to the charge, Lee Lee was found guilty under Section 232 (2) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for possessing six units of iBoite-X media boxes included with MyTV.apk software which is a system designed to fraudulently obtain content application services supplied by Measat Broadcast Network System Sdn Bhd.
She was charged with committing the offence at about 2.30 pm at a premises at Taman Putra Prima, Puchong on December 12, 2019.
The offence carries a fine not exceeding RM300,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both.
However, Lee Lee, was fined RM5,000 for each offence or in default a one-month jail.
The accused was represented by lawyer Low Li Qun while Deputy Public Prosecutor Syazwani Zawawi prosecuted.
