Compound of RM1,000 for violating MCO comes into force

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 95 compound notices had been handed out to the individuals involved.

"Those found to be violating the MCO will be taken to the police station before being given a compound and the payment must be settled at the District Health Office within two weeks after the date of issue.

“Those who failed to pay the compound will be brought to court," he said at a press conference here Thursday.

Ismail Sabri said that on April 8, the MCO directive compliance rate reached 97 per cent.

"The PDRM together with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) has conducted 769 roadblocks nationwide and inspected 433,988 vehicles," he added.

At the same time, the Department of Road Transport (JPJ) will assist the PDRM and the ATM in roadblocks across the country from now on.

"A total of 36,980 surprise inspections have been conducted nationwide and 5,022 premises checked,” he said.

The PDRM has also arrested 300 individuals during roadblocks and patrols for violating the MCO.

The number of arrests yesterday decreased from 454 arrests the day before.

"The arrest rate had dropped by 34 per cent yesterday. Of the 300 individuals arrested yesterday, 252 were remanded and another 48 individuals released on bail.
