Contemporary flair
The notion of “newness” is what Gucci’s new exhibit in Shanghai conveys, the No Longer/Not Yet exhibition is curated by the brand’s creative director Alessandro Michele and LOVE magazine’s Katie Grand, and it invites both visitors and the seven featured artists to contemplate on “What is contemporary?” The end result sweeps over everything from an installation with a chicken riding an android vacuum to a crimson room filled with painted portraits. Some of the artists featured include Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei, sculptor Rachel Feinstein, Neo-conceptual artist Jenny Holzer and more. The exhibition will involve a series of rooms in which the artists’ installations will be shown, including an individual piece by Michele himself.
Bringing together nine creative individuals from fashion photography and neo- conceptual artistry to sculpture, this exhibit is a must-see if you are in Shanghai!
The exhibit is on view at Shanghai MinShenng Art Museum from October 17 to December 16 2015 and features installations, paintings, and photographic works on display in seven rooms, presenting the new contemporary vision of the Italian brand.
