Convenience store robberies: Eight teens detained

Police detained eight members of a gang that specialised in robbing convenience stores and stealing motorcycles, before seizing five stolen motorcycles.

Sepang police chief Supt Mohd Yusoff Awang said the suspects, including a woman, aged between 16 and 19, were detained at various locations in Sepang, Nilai and Banting from June 3 to 6.

"Police successfully detained the group members after detaining one of the members at 12.30am on June 3 at Dataran Nilai. After interrogating him, we managed to track the rest of the gang members," he told reporters here yesterday.

Mohd Yusoff said apart from the five motorcycles, police also found 20 packets of cigarettes, eight motorcycle parts, a parang and various motorcycle components.

"The eight suspects did not have a permanent job and were not students," he said.
