Convict charged with threatening magistrate

A convict serving time for causing hurt on an individual was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with criminal intimidation against a magistrate last May.
S.Thaneskumar, 23, however, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Magistrate Namirah Hanum Mohamad Albaki.
He was charged with committing the offence on Adira Adnan, 33, by hurling abusive remarks and threatening to kill in the Criminal Magistrate's Court 1,Jalan Duta here, between 2 pm and 3 pm last May 15.
The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.
The court set Aug 11 for mention.
In the same court, Namirah Hanum sentenced Nur Farah Syaheeda Mohamod, 27, to a day's jail and fined RM1,500, in default six months' jail, for theft.
The woman, represented by lawyer Mohd Safwan Saleh, was charged with stealing four blouses and a pants at the Cotton On Boutique, Pavilion, at 6.15 pm last Wednesday (July 5).
