Cooperation and partnership an important aspect in Jordan-Malaysia relations

AMMAN (Jordan): The aspect of cooperation and sharing of experiences in various fields between Jordan and Malaysia is seen as the key to strengthening bilateral relations.
This was stated during a meeting between the President of the Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Association with Asia and Oceania, Dr Abdul Rahim Ma'aya, and Malaysia's Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar who is currently on a visit to the country, Jordan News Agency (PETRA) reported.
The meeting took place at the House of Representatives building on Tuesday, and was attended by the Malaysian Ambassador to Amman, Datuk Jilid Kuminding.
According to PETRA, Ma'aya said the visit of the Malaysian leader was very meaningful in strengthening cooperation in various fields - Parliament, culture, education, commercial, economy, and tourism.
Apart from that, he also emphasised the importance of sharing experiences in the fields of agriculture, transportation, tourism, and the pharmaceutical industry in order to take advantage of the opportunities available in both countries.
At the same time, Kamarudin praised the long-standing historical ties between the two countries and said Malaysia is keen to develop mutual relations with Jordan at various levels.
He noted that there are more than 1,100 Malaysian students studying at Jordanian universities.
Kamarudin also expressed his readiness to convey all the views and ideas from the Jordanian Parliament to the Malaysian government as well as efforts that contribute towards the common interest.
He expressed appreciation for Jordan's continued efforts, under the leadership of Jordanian King Abdullah II, to maintain security and stability in the region, stressing that there are similarities between the two countries in views and stances.
On Kuala Lumpur's stance on the Palestinian issue, Datuk Kamarudin stressed to Jordan that it is Malaysia's priority and interest in international forums.
