Cop found dead, believed to be self-inflicted gunshot wound

A member of the police's Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Baling police headquarters (IPD) at about 10am Saturday.
According to a message sent via WhatsApp, Kedah CID chief ACP Nashir Ya said the policeman, aged 47, was believed to have shot himself in the head with a P9S automatic pistol in a toilet of the IPD.
He said witnesses heard the sound of one shot fired.
"In the right hand of the body was a pistol and follow-up investigations will be conducted," he said in the message.
Meanwhile, Kedah police chief in a WhatsApp message said police did not suspect any foul play in the case.
He added that the case had been classified as sudden death.
