KLUANG: Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in randomly firing several shots in front of a house in Kampung Bukit Batu Machap, Simpang Renggam, near here, yesterday.
Kluang District police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said the man was arrested at Pusat Setia Perdagangan Simpang Renggam at 7 pm yesterday.
He said preliminary investigations found that the shooting incident occurred at 12.17 pm, with the suspect firing several shots.
"The incident occurred when the victim, who was at home, saw a maroon-coloured Perodua Bezza car driving into her compound. As she stood at the front door, she was approached by three men.
"Then, one of the suspects pulled out a pistol from his waist and pointed it at the victim and her husband before firing four shots. The suspects then fled, but not before firing two more shots," he said in a statement today, adding that the couple was not hit.
Bahrin said they are investigating the case under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 307 of the Penal Code.
He added that the remand application will be made at the Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court today.
