The police are seeking help from the public to assist in the investigation into the case of a baby boy who was left in a box in front of a mosque in Taman Melawati here on Monday.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Hamzah Alias said police were now looking for the persons behind the dumping case and urged the public with information about the incident to come forward.
He said a member of the police motorcycle unit found the baby with a note following tip-off from the public at about 8.23pm.
In Maran, police yesterday detained five men, aged 30 and 42, who were allegedly involved in exploding an automated-teller machine (ATM) in Dungun, Terengganu before fleeing the scene with RM320,000 in cash in early September.
Maran police chief DSP Mat Rizal Mat Radzi said following a tip-off, four of the men were picked up at a hostel at the Maranthandavar Temple in Sungai Jerik at 4.30pm, while another suspect was detained at a swampy area in Kampung Baru Jaya six hours later.
Checks at the hostel led to the discovery of explosives, sharp weapons, three luxury cars and other items, he said.
In Bukit Mertajam, two men believed to be involved in house and factory breaks-in around Seberang Perai were arrested by police in a Juru housing estate yesterday.
District police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the duo, aged 23 and 24, had various criminal records.
Police also seized a number of mobile phones, copper cables, laptops and various equipment used in their activities.
In Besut, a drug case suspect who escaped while being transferred to a Magistrate's Court here on Monday, was recaptured yesterday.
Besut police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the 24-year-old man was picked up while having his meal at a restaurant in Kampung Raja here at 10.40pm, with the help from his family members.
