The police have solved a number of burglary and vehicle theft cases in Perlis, Kedah and Penang with the arrest of four Malay men aged between 22 and 31.
Speaking to reporters at his office here on Friday, Perlis police chief Datuk Zull Aznam Haron said two burglaries and two vehicle thefts committed simultaneously on Dec 2 last year in Taman Temak Jaya and Taman Simpang Jaya, Simpang Empat, near here had prompted the state contingent police headquarters to set up a task force to curb the incidents.
On Jan 6, Kedah police with the assistance and cooperation of the task force, managed to arrest the suspects and seized items believed to be stolen, including a Toyota Camry and Toyota Vios.
Investigations found that two of the four suspects had previous criminal records involving drugs. Two of them operated food outlets, one was a mechanic and the fourth, a labourer.
Meanwhile, Zull Aznam said police arrested a 34-year-old Malay man suspected of involvement in triad activities, at 8.30 am on Friday at Taman Seri Embun here.
"They seized two machetes, two swords, a white shirt with a dragon motif, a certificate and logo printed with the words 'To the Black Dragon', 'Kekanda Kumpulan 368 Kedah' and a framed Pekida Malaysia symbol," he said.
