Corruption: GLC engineer released on RM200,000 bail

An engineer attached to a government-linked company (GLC), remanded since August 21 for investigations into alleged corruption and abuse of power, was released on bail today.
Magistrate Court Registrar Amni Mat Jahari allowed the 30-year-old suspect, a staff of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Kelantan, to be released on RM200,000 bail.
The suspect arrived at the court at 11.45am today, accompanied by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers.
He was arrested on August 20, along with two technicians, when he came to give his statement at the Kelantan MACC office.
The arrest was made following the arrest of a senior officer of a GLC in Kota Bharu on August 15.
Previous media reports said, a senior director of Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur with a 'Datuk Seri' title, a senior director of a government department in Melaka with a 'Datuk' title and government agency manager in Kelantan were remanded for seven days in three separate Magistrate's Court for investigations into cases of alleged corruption, abuse of power and money laundering.
On Tuesday, MACC Strategic Communications Division director Abdul Samat Kasah said the commission was finalising investigation papers (IPs) on the three high-ranking civil servants.
