The country's border controls remain tightened despite the CMCO

The authorities including the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATMs) have intensified control of the country's borders throughout the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it was a measure to ensure that there was no intrusion by foreigners into the country to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"About (national) border control, it is still normal, in fact it has been tightened (by) the Task Force and other agencies.

"It is not only focused on the official border areas, but also the informal areas, which are the rat lanes, are still being tightened," he said at a press conference here today.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the ATM was still tasked with helping the PDRM despite the roadblocks being reduced following the implementation of the CMCO.

He said the focus was on adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

"So, the army is still helping the police in enforcing this SOP.

"There are 14 security agencies that have been listed (in the Task Force) and I believe 12 other agencies will also exercise control or monitoring of this compliance," he said.
