KOTA BHARU: A married couple who runs a cake shop is enlivening the 15th General Election (GE15) atmosphere by distributing 2,000 banana-shaped pieces of cake wrapped in plastic film with an 'Undilah' (Please Vote) sticker which looks like a ballot paper, on it.
Aiman Ahmad Farid, 33, said the distribution was made since yesterday and continued today following the good response.
"We took about 15 minutes to distribute the pieces of banana cake to motorists passing by our shop.
"Some of them were confused, thinking that the cake could come from any of the GE15 candidates but actually, it was just a way of hyping up the GE15 atmosphere, a sole effort by our Mr Mamahub shop," he said when met by reporters at Jalan Pintu Geng, here, today.
Aiman said they had used 25 kilogrammes (kg) of Cavendish bananas, 10 kg of flour and 10 kg of brown sugar to make the cakes.
"I was assisted by my wife, Nur Izzati Mohamad, 29, and four workers to get ready the banana cakes within two days at a total cost of RM2,000," he added.
Aiman said that since operating the cake shop over two years ago, they had always been creating something different based on themes such as the National Day celebration.
"The distribution of free cakes today is also aimed at reminding the people to cast their votes this Nov 19," he said.
