Police detained a married couple after finding drugs worth RM130,000 in their home in Kampung Malaysia Tambahan, Sungai Besi, during a special operation by a police team yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur Narcotics CID head ACP Guan Beng Kang said the 41-year-old suspect and his 37-year-old Indonesian wife, believed to be members of a drug trafficking syndicate involving syabu and eramine 5 drugs which had been active for more than one year in the federal capital, were detained in a raid at 3.30 pm after receiving public information.
Police found 11 packets of crystal powder believed to be syabu weighing 2.0045 kilograms and 1,200 eramine pills in the couple's home, he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters, here today.
He said the drugs which were obtained by the suspects using external network were believed to be for sale in the local market while some would be distributed to neighbouring countries.
He added that both suspects would be remanded for seven days until Thursday to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
