Couple suspected of child abuse after son dies

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Azlin Sadari said the couple, aged 33 and 36 years, were the victim's biological parents.

"Around 3 pm on Friday, the couple brought their son to a clinic in Subang Jaya for a medical examination, but the victim was pronounced dead three minutes after receiving treatment at the clinic.

"On examining the victim, the doctor found bruises on the face, arms, legs and backside which showed the victim had been abused," he said in a statement today.

Mohammad Azlin said the body was sent to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem and it was confirmed that the victim had died of internal bleeding believed to have been punched and beaten with a cane.

''Checks revealed that the victim's father has a criminal record involving drugs while his mother was involved in fraud and burglary cases," he said.

He said the couple were remanded for seven days from yesterday until June 2 for further investigations.
